Ordering and Shipping
How long does shipping take?
Details on processing time, delivery windows, and coverage areas are on our Shipping Policy page.
Do you ship outside the contiguous United States?
Our website ships within the contiguous 48 United States only. If you need delivery outside that area, the same collection is available through our eBay store, where international shipping is handled through eBay's international shipping program.
What if my order arrives damaged?
We know that's the last thing you want after waiting for a new piece. Our Returns and Refunds Policy walks through exactly what to do and how quickly we'll make it right.
Model Ship Questions
How are the ship models built?
Most of our models use plank on frame or plank on bulkhead construction, the same method shipbuilders have relied on for centuries. Each plank is added to the hull individually, by hand, a process that can take hundreds of hours per model. These aren't kits.
What woods are used?
Our builders work with high quality woods including cherry, birch, maple, walnut, teak, rosewood, and several others chosen for strength and finish.
Since these aren't kits, is every part handmade?
Nearly every component, the hull, sails, figureheads, and fine details, is built by hand. A few small parts needed in bulk, like brass cannons or deadeyes, are sourced separately rather than handcrafted individually, simply because of the quantity needed.
Will my model arrive fully assembled?
Most models ship fully assembled and ready to display straight out of the box. On a few larger sailboats, the mast ships separately to protect it in transit. Assembly just means inserting the mast and securing the numbered clips, no rigging or tools required.
Why do some models have a copper plated hull?
It's a detail pulled straight from maritime history. Starting in the 1780s, ships had their hulls plated in copper to protect against damage from shipworm. Select models in our collection carry real copper plating for the same authentic look.
What does the scale number mean, like 1:108?
That ratio tells you how the model compares to the real ship. A 1:108 scale means the actual vessel was 108 times the size of the model in your hands.
Which model should I start with?
It really depends on your space and budget. The HMS Victory and USS Constitution are longtime favorites, largely thanks to their history and how striking they look on display.
Decor and Product Questions
Are all of your products handcrafted?
Our ship models are handcrafted using traditional shipbuilding methods. Our decor pieces, clocks, bells, telescopes, and accents, are chosen for solid materials and lasting quality, though they aren't built the same way our ships are. If you're curious about how a specific piece is made, the product page will have those details.
Are your brass and copper pieces real metal?
Yes, our decor is made from genuine materials like brass, copper, and chrome rather than painted plastic. Finishes and exact composition vary by piece, so check the individual product description for specifics.
